Pico and Dopka – from wild horse to Cavalia

In the early 2000s, Aaron was approached by a woman in Quebec who had heard about his way with horses. Long before social media, Aaron and Stelkia Ranch were known across Canada for starting wild colts and working with horses that others sometimes considered difficult or problematic.

She had an idea: Aaron would bring a group of wild horses east to Montreal, demonstrate his approach through a colt-starting and problem-horse clinic, and the horses would then be sold to new homes.

Aaron remembers making the long drive east with seven horses. Six had already been started under saddle. The seventh was still wild enough that Aaron could work with him during the clinic and show people the process from the beginning.

All seven horses left Aaron in Quebec.

One of them was Pico.
